December 22, 2016,  Master thesis graduation

Lisa de Wilde is the fifty fifth Master student to graduate in Twente in the context of the Kerckhoffs programme Computer Security. The title of her Master Thesis is "A Bayesian Network Model for Predicting Data Breaches Caused by Insiders of a Health Care Organization". Lisa her master project was supervised by dr.ir. Wolter Pieters, prof.dr. Raymond Veldhuis and ir. A Ougajou.

Jelte Orij is the fifty fourth Master student to graduate in Twente in the context of the Kerckhoffs programme Computer Security. The title of his Master Thesis is "Self-adaptation to concept drift in web-based anomaly detection ". Jelte his master project was supervised by prof.dr. Sandro Etalle, prof.dr. Pieter Hartel and dr. Damiano Bolzoni (Security Matters).

Pallavi Jagannatha is the twelfth master student to graduate in Twente in the context of the EIT ICT Labs Security and Privacy track programme Computer Security. The title of her Master Thesis is "Dual Research on detecting Exploit kits using machine learning". Pallavi her master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter, dr. Alexandr Vasenev and dr. Zhiyuan Tan.

Ikram Ullah is the thirteenth master student to graduate in Twente in the context of the EIT ICT Labs Security and Privacy track programme Computer Security. The title of his Master Thesis is "Detecting Lateral Movement Attacks through SMB using BRO ". Ikram his master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter, dr. Alexandr Vasenev, Riccardo Bortolameotti, MSc and A. Van 't Veer, BSc (FOX-IT).

Dennis Schroer is the fifty third Master student to graduate in Twente in the context of the Kerckhoffs programme Computer Security and the twelfth to graduate Cum Laude. The title of his Master Thesis is "Feasibility of End-To-End Encryption using Attribute-Based Encryption in Health Care". Dennis his master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter and dr. Alexandr Vasenev.

Marco Caselli successfully defended his doctoral thesis, Cum Laude, entitled 'Intrusion Detection in Networked Control Systems: From System Knowledge to Network Security'.

Anna Sperotto.

The title of his Master Thesis is 'Fast and Accurate Likelihood Ratio Based Biometric Comparison in the Encrypted Domain'. Joep his master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter and prof.dr. Raymond Veldhuis.

Uraz Seddigh is the first Master student to graduate in Twente in the context of the 4TU programme Computer Security and the first to graduate Cum Laude. The title of his Master Thesis is ''Bring Your Own Authenticator/Authentication Security in Physical Access Control Systems''. Uraz his master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter, prof.dr.ir. R.N.J. Veldhuis and dr. Fei Liu (Nedap).

The title of his Master Thesis is 'Analyzing white-box designs for differential computation analysis resistance'. Van Huyn his master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter, dr. Maarten Everts and prof.dr. W.P.A. Michiels (NXP).

The title of his Master Thesis is 'Gathering Intelligence from the Bitcoin Peer-to-Peer Network'. Willem his master project was supervised by prof.dr. Pieter Hartel, dr. Andreas Peter, Utwente and dr. R. Bloemen, MSc and dr. F.J. Stoffer, MSc (CoBlue Cybersecurity BV).

The title of his Master Thesis is 'Achieving 128-bit Security Against Quantum Computer Attacks in Open VPN'. Simon his master project was supervised by dr. Andreas Peter, dr. Maarten Everts and N. Duif MSc, Min. BZK.

This weekend, the Twente Hacking Squad is again participating in a Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. The TU CTF is a good introductory CTF to get familiar with hacking the web, crypto, reverse engineering, exploitation and forensics.
We hope to see many student again participating to the CTF. If you're interested in joining as well, you can contact us or dorp by in ZI 2042 this weekend.

Like previous times, the SCS group supports the THS by providing the environment and refreshments needed to have a successful hacking event. 


April 22, 2016,  Advanced Course On Darknet And Crypto Currencies

TNO Singapore will be conducting two five-day advanced course on darknet and crypto currencies at iTrust in Apr 2016, led by Prof.dr. Pieter Hartel from University of Twente. The course is provided by the iTrust, Centre for Research in Cyber Security in collaboration with TNO. 


April 13, 2016,  Moritz Müller received internet thesis award

Moritz Müller, a graduate of the EIT Digital Master's programme in Security and Privacy, received the thesis award in the 'Internet and Engineering Sciences' category. Mr Müller studied at the University of Trento in Italy during the first year of his programme and completed his studies at the University of Twente. 


March 15, 2016,  Twente Hacking Squad

The Twente Hacking Squad (formerly known as Twackers) recently participated to one of the most notoriously hard Capture the Flag (CTF) events, the Boston Key Party. Our team finished 122th out of a total of 764 participants, which is something we can be proud of for our recently founded team!

Do you want to learn how to hack as well? Come visit us during the next meeting on Tuesday, March 15th at 18:00 hrs. As usual, we meet at ZI2042.
